2010 Children's Summer Reading Program

June 28-August 13

Read to Me Club: For ages 2 to entering kindergarten.
Beach Club: For students entering grades 1-6.

How it works:
To join a reading club, stop by the library starting Monday, June 28 to receive your summer reading kit.

Return to the library each week to log-in the books you have read. Each time you log-in books, you will receive a sticker for each book you have read. You will earn a prize for each week you come in. Children who complete the reading program will be invited a special Ice Cream Social on August 16 at 2 PM. To complete the reading club, Read to Me members must read 15 books and Beach Club Members must read 5 books.

Tuesdays 11:30-5
Wednesdays 11:30-5 & 6-8
Thursdays 11:30-5
Fridays 10-5
Saturday 11-1

2010 Teen Summer Reading Program (Grades 7 & up)

Visit the library and pick up a summer reading kit. For each book you read, fill out and return a review sheet. Each week you hand in return review sheets, you will earn a prize. For each review sheet you hand in, your name will be entered in a weekly raffle.

Water Your Mind - 9th Annual Adult Summer Reading Raffle

Beginning June 28 – July 31, the Orangeburg Library is sponsoring a Reading Raffle. Read a book, fiction or non-fiction, and fill out a Raffle Ticket with your name, the title of the book and a brief critique. The more you read, the more chances you have to win a prize. Winners will be drawn every week for five weeks beginning July 2. See Richard in Adult Reference for details.

Must register for all teen programs

Reading Club
Visit the library and pick up a summer reading kit. For each book you read, fill out and return a review sheet. Each week you hand in return review sheets, you will earn a prize.

Beach Wear
Monday, June 28 @ 4 PM.
Personalize a pair a flip flops and tie dye a t-shirt. Bring a white cotton t-shirt.

Decoupage Boxes
Tuesday, July 6 @ 4 PM.
Decorate a box using paper or old magazines.

Itty Bitty Frames
Monday, July 12 @ 7 PM.
Make magnetic frames using metal bottle caps. Bring photos that you can cut up.

Comedy Juggling Show
Monday, July 19 @ 7 PM.
Ned Gelfars will entertain us with his comical juggling.

Kanzashi
Monday, July 26 @ 7 PM
Learn how to make Japanese Fabric Flowers with Sarah. To participate, you must be able to thread a needle and tie a knot. Limited space – register early!

Beat the clock
Monday, August 2 @ 7 PM
Can you complete a challenge in 60 seconds?


Library Lock-in
August 21 5-11 PM
The library closes at 5pm, but we'll stay and eat pizza and snacks, play Wii games, watch movies, do craft projects and much more until 11pm! This event will be open to reading club participants who complete the reading club and attend 3 teen programs. Space is limited and permission slips are required.
